The Institute for Spatial Information and Measurement Technology (i3mainz) at Mainz University of Applied Sciences deals with research and development tasks as well as technology transfer, particularly in the spatial fields of 3D measurement technology, image analysis, spatial data infrastructures, optical technologies, positioning and navigation, semantic modelling, spatial humanities and visualisation.

The Jennewein Metalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG with its headquarters in Abtsgmünd-Untergröningen combines a tradition of more than 50 years in metal and sheet metal working with numerous well-known reference customers from the fields of plant and mechanical engineering, construction machinery, cleaning technology as well as agriculture and forestry. To this end, around 25 motivated and qualified employees confidently take care of the efficient and on-time production of high-quality welded constructions of up to 5 tons, including milling, surface treatment and assembly of components.

2018/2019 has been invested in new technologies, such as a new laser cutting system and a welding robot. The laser can cut steel up to 25mm thick and the welding robot can weld components weighing up to 2 tons. This has opened the door to automation. The aim is to economically produce already small series or recurring complex welding assemblies in high quality and thus to increase competitiveness, especially against low-wage countries. This is also intended to develop additional synergy effects for training and further education in robot programming and automation of welding technology.
